My Background
For nearly two decades, I have worked in service of the public good. My early career was in nonprofit direct service and program management. After earning my Master in Public Administration, I spent a decade as a major gifts fundraiser and leading development teams.
The work I found most fulfilling was building and maintaining impactful partnerships, to advance meaningful goals. Whether working with a donor to understand their values and find alignment with funding opportunities or coaching my colleagues who were pursuing career advancement, this one-on-one relationship centered work was my bread and butter.
My Transition
In these years, I also lived a lot of life! I got married, my beloved dad passed away, I had two incredible children, there was a global pandemic, and so much more. As I grew and changed, my career that had once energized and fulfilled me, began to feel “meh.” It became increasingly clear that I was ready for something new, but I couldn’t figure out what.
After months of trying unsuccessfully to facilitate my own ah-ha moment, I made the life-changing decision to hire a coach. Through our work together, I reconnected with my core values, strengths, and motivators, and created a clear vision for the life I wanted to live. With this foundation, my coach asked, “Have you ever considered being a coach?” And there it was—my ah-ha moment.
Coaching taps into my core strengths of empathy, connection, authentic positivity, and recognizing and cultivating potential. It also sits in deep alignment with my core values of connection, compassion, family, delight, and thoughtfulness. Through coaching, I get to continue my life’s work of helping make people’s lives better.
My Sparkle
In addition to coaching, some of my other great sources of joy are:
- Lewis and Nell—my delightful, hilarious, and spunky kids (ages 8 and 5).
- John—my wonderful husband.
- Pasta—in all forms, except salad.
- Seattle—Mountains! Water! Family! Friends! A life-long Seattleite, I think it is the best.
- Reading—A good book, a snuggly blanket, a warm beverage, and I’m perfectly content.
- Swimming—Ocean, river, pool, or lake. If the sun is shining and water is warm, I’m happy as a clam.
My Education
I am an Associate Certified Coach via the International Coaching Federation and a Certified Professional Co-Active Coach via the Co-Active Training Institute.
I hold a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Washington’s Evans School of Public Policy & Governance and a Bachelor of Arts from Whitman College.
